Lip blush or lip filler?
These get confused constantly, and they do completely different jobs. One is pigment. One is volume. Plenty of people have both.

The verdict
If your lips are the size you want but pale, uneven, or losing their edge — lip blush. If they are the colour you want and you simply want more of them — filler, from somebody medically qualified. If you want both, have the filler first and let it settle a month before the blush.
These two get confused constantly and they do completely different jobs. One is colour. One is size. Plenty of women have both.
Lip blush is pigment worked softly through the lip. It brings back an edge that has gone fuzzy and evens out patchy colour. It cannot make your mouth bigger — nothing in a needle of pigment can. Filler is volume. Hyaluronic acid injected to make the lip physically fuller or to even up a lopsided one. It does nothing at all for colour.Which one do you actually want?
Be honest about what bothers you when you look in the mirror:
- “I look washed out without lipstick” — that is colour. Lip blush.
- “My lipstick bleeds and my lip line has gone soft” — that is the edge. Lip blush.
- “My top lip vanishes when I smile” — usually volume, so filler — though blush can help the illusion more than you would think.
- “I just want a bigger mouth” — filler.
- “One side is fuller than the other” — filler, and somebody medically qualified.
Who should be doing it
This matters more with filler than almost anything else on this site. Filler is an injectable and it carries risks pigment does not — it needs somebody medically qualified who can recognise and treat a problem.
Alison does not do filler and will not send you to anybody who is not medically qualified to give it. What she does do is lip blush, licensed by the council for it and insured specifically for it.
Having both, and in what order
There is no conflict between them, only a running order. Filler first, let it settle for at least four weeks, then lip blush mapped to the lip you have ended up with.
Do it the other way round and the pigment goes onto a lip that is about to change shape, which stretches the colour and moves the border you just paid to define.
And tell Alison about any filler you have ever had, including old filler you assume has long gone. It changes how the lip behaves under the needle.
